Alan Shaffran has served as a senior portfolio manager in the Alternative Credit and Fixed Income group since 2008 and is currently located at Magnetar’s office in London. Alan also serves on Magnetar’s firm-wide Investment and Management committees.
Prior to joining Magnetar Capital in 2008, Alan was the global head of structuring at Rabobank in London, where he was responsible for the bank’s structured products businesses across asset classes ranging from credit and interest rates to equity and fund derivatives. In addition, he was on the management team of Rabobank’s global financial markets business.
Previously, Alan spent more than 19 years at Citigroup. From 2001 to 2006 he was a managing director and head of European credit derivatives in London. Prior to that, he was a founding member of the credit derivatives and emerging markets credit derivatives trading desks in New York and a vice president in debt capital markets. He began his career at Salomon Brothers in 1987 as a quantitative analyst in the bond portfolio analysis group.
Alan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in systems science and engineering from the University of Pennsylvania School of Engineering and Applied Science as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
