Ben Paull is the chief financial officer at Magnetar Capital, where he oversees the firm’s finances across all aspects of the business. He manages the fund accounting, business unit control, operations, reporting, treasury and portfolio finance departments. He also serves as a member of the firm’s Management, Valuation, Best Execution, and New Business and Ethics committees.
Before being named CFO, Ben was a deputy chief operating officer focused on financial planning, budgeting, portfolio finance and liquidity management in addition to developing and implementing key strategic projects across the firm.
Prior to joining Magnetar in September of 2008, Ben worked in the investment banking financial institutions group at Lehman Brothers, where he advised alternative asset managers on merger arbitrage and capital markets transactions.
Ben has a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration, finance and accounting from the University of Colorado Boulder’s Leeds School of Business. He is also a chartered financial analyst.
